How Local Organizations Can Participate
Raise Funds for Your Local Mental Health Supports
Local organizations are invited to use the Defeat Depression fundraising platform to raise money for the mental health programs and services in your own community. It’s simple, flexible, and only takes a few minutes to get started.
Whether your group is large or small, you can easily participate by creating a team page and inviting your community to join you.
How It Works
1. Create a Team Page
Set up a team page for your organization.
This page will track all of the participants and donations connected to your group.
2. Invite Your Community
Share your team page link with supporters, staff, volunteers, clients, friends, and family.
Everyone who registers or donates through your team page will be counted toward your fundraising total.
3. Receive 70% of the Funds Your Team Raises
Your organization will receive 70% of the total raised by your team.
The remaining portion supports national mental health efforts and the ongoing development of the Defeat Depression program.

Who Can Participate?
To receive funds, your organization must be a qualified donee under the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
Most registered charities, municipalities, and certain nonprofit groups fall into this category.
If you’re unsure, you can check your status through the CRA website or contact us with questions.
No Committee, No Paperwork, No Complicated Agreements
Our priority is to keep participation simple and barrier‑free.
There are no multi‑page agreements and no requirement for local committees.
You only need to:
- Ensure you are a qualified donee
- Create a team page
- Begin inviting participants
